The Ultimate Bucket List

A couple of years ago, I made a "bucket list" for places I wanted to see a game or a particular matchup that I wanted to see at some point in my life. I have been able to knock a few off so far, but I have a long way to go. First, I will tell you a list of my favorites that I have experienced, then I will try to compile a list of the places that I think should be included on any college football fan's list, in order.

My Favorites that I have attended. Obviously, this is biases aside, just overall gameday experience.

1. White out @ Penn State
2. Army-Navy after 9/11
3. Home game at Notre Dame
4. The Swamp (Florida home game)
5. The Big House
6. The Coliseum
7. The Orange Bowl (Old Miami home game)
8. Carrier Dome (Syracuse)-When they were good

Here is my ultimate bucket list, specifics included...

1. White out @ Penn State-As much as I hate to admit it, they do it right on Saturday nights in Happy Valley. I attended the Ohio State game in 2005, and it was seriously a SCARY place to play, and the loudest crowd I have ever seen.
2. Night game at Tiger Stadium (LSU)- I've heard a night game in Baton Rouge in absolutely wild. And most of their games are scheduled later in the day, so make it happen.
3. The Horse shoe (Ohio State)- The dotting of the "i," the 100,000+ crowd, and BIG 10 FOOTBALL! (I Kid) But seriously, I would love to see a big time game here, preferably against Michigan.
4. Notre Dame- Whether you love 'em or you hate 'em, it is a necessity of any college football fan to go to a game in South Bend. Visit the college football hall of fame, Touchdown Jesus, the Dome, the Grotto, and now, the Gug. The Tradition makes up for the lack of noise in the crowd.
5. The Swamp- Wild bunch down there, try to get there to see them play one of the Florida teams. I went in 2002 against Miami, it was just out of control.
6. Red River Shootout (Texas Vs. Oklahoma, played a neutral site)- Would love to see the class of the Big 12 go at it when they're both having big years.
7. The Big House (Michigan)- The name serves this place well. It is a damn big house that has been intimidating opponents for years (Except App. St.).
8. The Coliseum- When you walk in the gates, you do not feel like you are going to a football game. But the Trojans will quickly remind you when the field gets into view. LOUD
9. World's Largest Cocktail Party (Florida-Georgia)- If the name itself doesn't get you there, the teams hopefully will.
10. Clemson home game- Touch the rock, and see the team come out like that as well. (Hopefully a night game)
11. Auburn-Alabama game- I would love to see this game, particularly in Alabama.
11. Wisconsin- I would probably tailgate for 2 1/2 quarters, and make my way in to see "Jump Around" at the beginning of the 4th.
13. West Virginia home game- The moutaineers are the only show in Morgantown on Saturday's (Thursday would be really cool too) I'm trying to get this one checked off this year.
14. Carrier Dome- If Syracuse ever gets back to their winning ways, get up to 'Cuse for one.
Make sure it's a big time game, and that they're really good to make it worth while.

That's it for my list, I'm sure I could come up with a few more if I ever had the opportunity to travel whenever I wanted. Let me know what you think...add any, or take any off if you feel they aren't worthy.

  1. As much as I dislike Penn State football, the white out is one of the coolest things I have ever been at(2006 vs Michigan). I think all of these would be pretty sweet, I'd prob put USC towards the top, but I've never been there..and would probably go to a Wisconsin game just to get a cheesehead and roll out
